SPEAKER INTRO

[LAST NAME PRONUNCIATION: PO - TEET ]

Lt Col Scott “Kidd” Poteet (Ret.) is not your typical astronaut. As a young kid, he struggled with intense motion sickness, fear of heights, and a less than stellar academic performance. After experiencing a serendipitous moment in college, a fire was lit from within, setting his sights on becoming a fighter pilot. Kidd served his country for 20 years. As a combat-proven warrior, USAF Thunderbird ambassador, and Fighter Weapons School graduate, Kidd set the example for others to follow.

Kidd not only excelled in his military career, he fostered his passion for endurance sports by competing in 16 Ironman triathlons to include the World Championships in Hawaii.

Most recently, Kidd fulfilled his childhood dream as an astronaut aboard Spacex’s Falcon 9 rocket on a 5-day earth orbit spaceflight called Polaris Dawn. This epic mission to space made history by setting numerous records for future generations to strive for.

Please welcome to the stage … Kidd Poteet!

Kidd will share how he routinely took the road less traveled and forged his own path in his quest to achieve greatness and conquering challenges throughout his career. From flying combat missions over Afghanistan to reaching the highest earth orbit ever flown, Kidd’s humble background wasn’t going to stop him from pursuing his passions and reaching new heights.
